Railway Station refurbishment project: Pre-contract analysis of tender documentation
and sub-contractor packages.
Railway stations refurbishment project: Responsible for financial control from
pre-contract to settlement of final account. Duties included:
- Reconciliation of internal bill of quantities.
- Procurement of sub-contract, including preparation of tender documents, invitation to
tender, analysis of bids, negotiation and selection.
- Measurement and valuation of sub-contract accounts.
- Preparation and presentation of monthly cost/value reconciliation and quarterly end-day
forecast reports.
- Preparation and negotiation of external valuations.
- Preparation, negotiation and agreement of variation account.
- Replying to contractual correspondence.
- Consideration of alternative specifications and working methods to improve profit
levels.
School New Build: Took control of project at late stage. Drafted final account from
scratch. Valued, negotiated and settled sub-contractor accounts.
Property Refurbishment: Drafted, negotiated and settled final account on problem
contract from scratch after completion on site by another QS. Advised client regarding

from sub-contractor.
Assignment to Project Management Unit, Government of Guyana: Healthcare II Project -
£10 M new build hospital. Reporting to Project Manager, responsibilities as follows:
- Analysis of monthly valuations as certified by Architect. Drafted report for use by the
Ministry of Health, Funding agency and Project Management Unit.
- Advising Project Manager and Ministry of Health. Subjects advised on:
- Extension of time.
- Loss and/or expense claims.
- Prelims during Extension of Time.
- Sectional completion.
- Practical completion.
- Variation valuation.
- Defects liability period.
- Warranties and Guarantees.
- Maintenance obligation of contractor.
- Local labour, expatriate fluctuations.
- Architect's fee fluctuations.

consultancy meetings.

- Review of contract conditions in draft bid document for Medical instruments.
